Going "old fashioned"... 😊 And a *different* Thanksgiving... πŸ—

With paper products being again, in short supply, I thought I'd "go old fashioned" and get some regular napkins.  😊  I got polyester red and white check, because they wash/dry perfectly, without need of ironing.    When I made some myself, before, they were cotton, and got all wrinkled up.

I never iron anymore.  Used to do a shirt for him, when he went to weekly Rotary Luncheon meetings.   But China/Covid-19 did away with those, for him.  😑

😊 Ready for Thanksgiving? 😊

We are mostly, having gotten our bone in turkey breast, with a curb pick up.  (We did not order soon enough, to get a small turkey, so...  The bone in turkey breast.)   Have the making's for Gluten Free Stuffin'.    And plenty of veggies.   We need 1/2 & 1/2 for his family-famous-Newman's-Creamed-Potatoes, which we will get in a Grocery Store Curb Side Pick Up.   Just no dessert ideas yet.   But we always have ice cream.  πŸ˜‹

Our family next door, got their own turkey.   Which they will use up, with all being at home, all the time.   Working, and doing college work, and high school work, and grade school work...  At home.   Because of China/Covid-19.  😑

"Pop" will make a double batch of his Newman's Creamed Potatoes, and we will take ours out.    One of Grandsons will come get the rest, in the big pot, from the garage.  We are not mingling in person, any more, at this dangerous time.

But the "grands" will not go without their FAVORITE Creamed Potatoes!!!!!!!!!  😊  Even if we aren't all at the table together, this year.

Oh and Granddaughter's job is remote, but her company is so busy this time of year, she has worked 10 hours a day.  And will not have Thanksgiving off!     It's just good to be working, at the job she went to college for, and loves!!!!!

So what does your granddaughter do? I wish more people took the precautions that you are, the CDC and Anthony Fauci would be proud of you. Now I am off to the web to look up these potatoes!

I looked on the web for these potatoes, and even went to Newman's Own website. Can't find them. Maybe you would post the recipe for us, since our mouths are watering now!

Your plans sound great, protective of everyone but celebratory. I have to believe next year will be better.

Sounds like you are fairly well organized for Thanksgiving. I'm sure the grands will appreciate the potatoes!
Stay safe and take care, Mxx

Sounds like you are getting ready for the "big day!" I worked many a Thanksgiving and Christmas in my former job; someone has to do it and we always celebrated a different time. We are just doing steaks, mushrooms, and mashed potatoes with a rum cake for dessert. We'll split the rum cake with son/family. Had them over tonight for an early Thanksgiving festivity!

I use cloth napkins on holidays. Makes the table extra special.

Those potatoes sound great, have you shared the recipe? I know coronavirus has messed many things up, and it is so hard to think that you can't be together! Maybe you could take a drive, or something to make the day special?
