Very cold last night....   Clear... so any daytime heat just wicked up into the sky...  The bird bath was frozen...

Don't you love these kinds of illustrations?  Snow on rooftops and golden light glowing in many windows?  😊

Made an "Impossible Pie" for dinner last night, and the rest will be dinner tonight.  I love meals in one dish, which make enough for 2 meals.  I really should look up a lot of recipes, for such.  If you have any suggestions for me, I would love to hear them!!!!!

Got something done and "off our plate," today!!!!  Yesssssssssssss!!!!  If we could drink, we would be having Champagne tonight, instead of non-alcoholic Eggnog.  🍷

It's fun and I was so happy to find it, on one of our streaming channels.  The first part kind of drags, but it really picks up, after Jean Stapleton's character dies.  ~~~~

I actually found Lactaid Eggnog!!!!!  How about that???  I get regular non alcoholic Eggnog for him, and have a sip.  It's delicious, which I never realized for years!!!

  So now, I can enjoy a small glass of it myself, without the regular Lactose Intolerance worry.  Actually, I still take a Dairy Relief tablet, just in case, there isn't enough of it, in Lactaid products.

Was able to get a Balsam wreath with red bow, where I pick up my groceries.  So at least, the front door looks nice.  Hope next door sickness has subsided by the weekend, and one of the Grands can bring our tree down.  And I need to get the mantle decorations down.

We went for a late lunch, at the little West Side neighborhood Bar and Grill, recently.  We were surprised to have only 1 parking place left!!!  When we got in, we realized why it was packed!!!!  The Iran/USA soccer (football, outside the US) game was on!!!   They have tv sets (for sports) all along the walls, and the game was on the HUGE one.  

The Bar was full...  The Grill was full...   Watching the game, while eating and drinking...  Some were VERY enthusiastic!   Chants of "USA"  "USA"  "USA"   It was so much fun!!!

When the game was over, and won...  The place cleared out.  -grin-

It turned very cold and windy and we had snow showers earlier.  Perfect for the first day of December.

This topic, is probably a *repeat*....   -grin-  About changing seasons.

People are saying they are getting the 'feeling' that summer is fading and Autumn is coming.     Not I.    Not I.   Even though we get lovely bits of nice, sunny days and cooool nights, I know that the heat will return.

((((Oh mercy!!  Look at that picture above!!!   Isn't that delicious looking??????   I know I will sound pessimistic, but.....    If I tried to make it, it would not look like that!!!   LOLLLLLL))))

But someday....   That 'something' will be 'in the air.'  Everything will look a wee bit different.    And then I will know, that I feel as if The Wheel Of The Year is turning and Autumn is around-the-corner.

Change of topic.....    "Murder In Provence" is on BritBox and I just love it!!!   But there is only one season!   -sigh-  We watched it once, and later, I wanted to watch it again, which we did.   🌻🌻🌻🌻   The major players are fun at times, and the plots are good.   But part of the joy of watching, is the gorgeous Provence scenery.   Ohhhhhhhh!!!!!!  💛💛💛💛

As people who can no longer enjoy a glass of wine, because of health reasons, we love it that they are always drinking wine...   And preparing food (him)....   And eating....   😋

Today is supposed to be very hot.   So far this morning, it is still nice,  with a bit of a breeze.   But with the rising of the sun in the sky, things will change.    And we'll have to close the doors/windows and turn on the a/c.

It's a day, to take it easy.   The eggs are already hard boiled, for egg salad.   To be had for a light, cool dinner, with tuna salad and a small green salad.

It's a day to find illustrations, which bring to mind, enjoying summer, in a cool glade.  (I just realized!   The picture above!  It is of a lady bug wedding!!!!   😊)

😊🌼Fun~"Smart"~Musing🌼😊

We enjoyed "Mrs. Brown," a Judi Dench film, as the widow Queen Victoria.   Fun fact....   A big part, in this film,  was played by the actor who plays "Lionel" in "As Time Goes By."   Billy Connolly is a wonderful 'John Brown.'  And Antony Sher plays 'Disraeli' marvelously.
 

I remember an article by Judi Dench, about the making of this film.   Billy Connolly is a wonderful story teller.   Nights, they would all sit around, drinking, and listening to him tell his stories, and laughing their heads off.    She said she would think.....  "I have to get up at 5:30am, to be on set....  Can I stay here, another hour, and still get up?"

They must have had a wonderful time, making this film!!!

Aug. 1st....  Kitchen sink cleaned....   Bathroom sink and bowel cleaned....   Before sitting down here, with the rest of my decaf.   😊  Sooooo proud of myself!  😊

 

I again think, I really need to take up "Fly Lady's" admonition, to clean sink before going to bed.   Such a wonderful...  brilliant even, idea!   So hard, somehow, to put into practice.    Do you???????   Always clean kitchen sink before going to bed?   

And I should do necessary housework, early in the morning.    Well, not necessarily really early, but 'early,' after we have gotten up.   Morning is my 'perky' time, and I need to utilize it.  🌼🌼🌼🌼   Of course I know this!   But do I always do it?   -sigh-  -sigh-  -sigh-  🌼🌼🌼🌼   Do you have a "more perky" time of day?   And do you utilize it?

💛🐇💛The Good and The Bad💛🐇💛

 Am happy with the Instacart ap on my smart phone.   Have tried 2 grocery stores, and the one in town, is the best choice.   Even in our "High Season", it only takes 10 min. to get there.  Happy to have validation, for getting a smart phone.

Have another appointment for a hearing aid.   One of our sons researched area places and this one, had the best reviews.   Hope this one works out.

The other son is getting our money back, from the first place.    This son will go with us, to the next appointment.  It is a Fact Of Life, that older people are targets for "bait and switch" and etc., etc., etc.    Really hate to admit this, but it has been proven, time and again.   

Our Dear Daughter in Law had to phone and phone and phone and phone, to get a Security System to "let us go."  It was horrible.    But we are so lucky, to have family, to "go to bat" for us.    

If you are a "Senior Citizen," you may well have had this experience, yourself.

It's a beautiful summer day, so far.  We went to grocery store early!    And came home to have our coffee/decaf.  Delightful to get errands done early.    Actually, as summer progresses, it will be more like absolutely necessary, than just delightful.

Our city is a "Summer Destination" and when out-of-towners fill the streets, it is not fun driving.

Well, it's not fun driving at all any more.   So many cars!    So many unknowns to deal with.   (Like "Will he really turn here?"  "Watch out for that one, weaving in and out, of lanes!"   "She's going to run that Stop Sign!"   Etc.)    Ughhhhhhhh...

After having followed a few Instagrams on 'The Royals'...   I love Catherine and William...  Watch Meghan/Harry for *Drama And Circus*, as I saw one person put it.  LOL
 

I'm going back to pretty English IG's.   I especially love tiny English Gardens as they call them.   Here, we call them Back Yards, with grass.   And the places, where we grow food or flowers, we call the Gardens.

In tiny English (back yards) gardens, they often don't have grass to mow, opting more for paving stones.   In these tiny spaces, a place to sit and not many flowering plants, make a pretty display.   Add a spring flowering fruit tree, for some shade.... 

The tiny size makes it more easy to take care of.  And not that many plantings, can make it delightfully *faux-crowded* and lovely.

We got errands done, early this morning.  Grocery store, hardware store, ice cream store, library.   Yessssss!!!!!!!!  Have the makings for 10 dinners, and we will go out to eat at sometime, during the next 10 days.

I am having a problem with ordering groceries to go.  Changed credit cards and our pharmacy and Amazon, had no trouble.   But this grocery store is giving me fits.   Soooooooooo....   Guess it's time to find another Groceries-To-Go.  -sigh-

Or shop like we did this morning.   Get items from Amazon.  And have next door daughter-in-law add some items, to her order.......   These would not be many, and she would be happy to do so.

Ahhhhh, these Glitches!!!!  They mess with our peace of mind.

Of the Equine species...

Our City Police Dept. Horse-Mounted Team is getting a new member.  Our newest horse (she is called 'Phoenix') will soon join 'Apollo' and 'King Tut'.

"Animals can play  a really important law enforcement role, and they also can have a really positive impact in working with the public"  ...

Children love police horses so much that it's a special event when they go to visit elementary schools.   And many adults walk up to police horses, on warm summer nights, on Broadway, to pat them.

Of course, they are very useful on a practical level.  During special events and dismissal times, and sad to say, when too much drinking has gone on and the usual rowdy behavior follows.

If you have been reading here a long time, you might remember back, in early *damnpandemic* time, Police Officers on horseback, would ride around residential districts, so children (who had to be stuck at home) would be able to enjoy seeing them, ride by.
