😊Hibernating Mode😊

guess i should give up on having all of my post, centered.  i click on centered and they come out, to the left, like a regular book print.

there are bloggers who claim that this is the easiest to read anyway.

this week between christmas and new years, is *supposed* to be quiet, with no *to do list*.  but it didn't work out this way, this year.  -sigh-  but i certainly plan on beginning january/february, *deep winter*, with as much hibernation mode as possible.

nature is sleeping, at this time of year.  many animals are hibernating.  it is cold, with long nights and a general feeling of "going within" as much as possible.  🏑   of being snug in our homes.  and having soups and stews simmering on the stove.  hot chocolate if one can have it.   good books to read, snuggled in one's favorite comfy chair, with a warm 'throw' over your legs.   etc.  etc.  etc.

i know, people still have to go out to work, and we all have work to do, around the home.  but if we can keep the hibernate attitude in our heads and hearts, even when out, or busy.....    and if we decline any invites which we really don't want to participate in, we can more easily slip back into a quiet mood, when work and home duties are done.

i know some do this every year.  but if you haven't really tried this before, perhaps you would consider it?  it's a way to more enjoy this cold, dark season of the year.  if we look on it, as a time to bring ourselves quiet, time for ourselves, coziness and self nurturing....  wouldn't that go a long way, to banish the winter blahhhhhhhhhs?  😊

if you have any resources on this topic of winter hibernation, would you please share them?  i can always use more!

some of my paragraphs are centered and some are not, at least now, before i publish.  ???????????

πŸŽ„So happy...πŸŽ„

So happy that many Dear Readers also enjoy the Hibernation Feeling of deep Winter.

Again, I have made my print the largest I can, to make it more readable on my screen.  Perhaps a bit too large.   Do hope you can adjust the size, which shows on your screen.  It's very easy on my new Mac laptop.  Just click on "command" key and on "+" key.   And to make it look smaller, click on command and "minus" key.

Same for my illustrations from Pinterest.  I'm making them Very Large.  I always love big pics, on blogs.  😊

Going to be looking for reading, which is in the Deep Winter Hibernation theme.  If you know of any, please share.

And maybe blogs, which delve into this, at this time of year.  Guess slow living blogs would be a good place to look.

πŸŽ„

Btw, that click-able link yesterday, which *wasn't*....  It came to me later!!!  Duhhhh!!!!  You use a *little thingy* right up on top of where you compose your post!!!

πŸŽ„

I simply need to calm down, when trying to post and etc.  πŸ˜‰

Grey yesterday and rain last night, but luckily, we do not seem to have lost all our pretty leaves.  Yesss!!!!   And how much more perky one feels, when you wake to sunshine, rather than to grey skies!!!!  -smile-

Finished  "Revenge" by Tom Bower.

Not an easy read, since she (Meghan) is so awful.
And he (Harry) is such an entitled whiner.
I believe it, because they have not sued the author.
And they "love" to sue.

Has anyone watched Prime's "The Lord of The Rings: The Rings of Power"?   Is it terribly hard to follow the story line, I wonder?   Those EPIC programs, seem to me, to be almost *work* to watch.    But I may be wrong.  -smile-

Above, sweet illustration of picking apples.  I need to buy some and make my husband an Apple Pie, with my homemade crust.   He doesn't like any other, because he only wants to eat my crust.  -smile-

I haven't done any Autumn decorating, or even Halloween decorating.   This year, it seems too much work, to get my little bit of decorations, down....  -sigh-

🌸🌸Lucia!!!!🌸🌸

Do you "know" LUCIA?????

If not, please click HERE and find out.

πŸ“• πŸ“• πŸ“•

When our daughter was in her teens, I read about "Make Way For Lucia" and got it for her.  Of course, I read it myself and came under 'Lucia's' spell.  And I still am.

πŸ“• πŸ“• πŸ“•

The first 'half' of the book is set in one English town, and the second half, is set in another.  In the second half, she encounters 'Miss Mapp'.

What are these books, all about?  Please click Here, to read a lovely review.

πŸ“• πŸ“• πŸ“•

This is the first tv adaptation, which I love, and am able to see again, with Britbox.  (Dear
Ginny asked the cost of Britbix... $7 a month)   Have yet to watch the more recent tv adaptation.  So can't judge that...

πŸ“• πŸ“• πŸ“•

'Back in the day' as the saying goes, I was on a net group, of lovers of all-things-'Lucia'....   Those in the UK would sometimes meet up.  I couldn't do that, but it was great fun.  Would love to find something like that, on the Net, again.  Must Search!  😊

πŸ“• πŸ“• πŸ“•

Soooooo, if you have read "Lucia" books, or seen the tv adaptations,  please tell me!!!!!!!

πŸ“πŸ“ Learning "SMART" πŸ“πŸ“

Our tv died.  I think we had it for over 15 years though, so that was good service.    Ordered one on line, and our next door son and grandson picked it up for us.  Then the fun began...!!!!
πŸ“

It took both of our sons, and a grandson and a grand daughter and her fiance...    To try to get it all hooked up and working.   πŸ˜“
I wanted a Smart tv.   Mmmmmmm, would have been much simpler, if I  had gotten a *not-Smart* tv.   But it has worked out well.

πŸ“

We have had Prime Video, for our tablets.   Our Grand daughter got Britbox set up for us.    And now, we watch all those things, on our tv screen!!!    Not just on our little tablets.  Super!!!!!
πŸ“

But learning to work the new Smart tv....!!!    This has been a real learning curve for me!!!!  Yikes!!!!!!
πŸ“

With Prime and Britbox, we have soooooooooooo many things to choose from, now!!!!

πŸ“

With so much *streaming*, to watch, will we drop cable and regular tv?  Not yet.   There are still a few things, we want to watch on regular tv.  A few shows he watches.   And my horse racing and Bucs football.   But if we ever want to, we are all set, to use only streaming services.

πŸ“

Do you have a Smart tv and was it a JOB, learning, how to work it?????

πŸ’œ πŸ’œ 'Glimerglass' πŸ’œ πŸ’œ

For some reason, the word "Glimmerglass" came into my mind.   I think it sounds lovely and mysterious and etc.

πŸ’œ

Looked up definition of it...   "Glimmerglass" ~   "The vibrant reflection of sunlight on a watery surface."

"Otsego Lake NY is called "Glimmerglass" in the "Leatherstocking Tales" of James Fenimore Cooper."

πŸ’œ

Somehow, those things, don't sound enchanting or otherworldly to me.

πŸ’œ

There!   That book cover art, says "Glimmerglass" to me, more than a lovely lake.   πŸ˜‰

I'm sure I have read this.    But perhaps it's time to read it again.

πŸ’œ

And this one too....  Delightful escape into the World of The Fey....

πŸ’œ

"Faeries, come, take me out of this dull world,

For I would ride with you upon the wind,

Run on the top of the dishevelled tide,

And dance upon the mountains like a flame!"

🌸 Some reading possibilities, from the past 🌸 Addition 🌸

Went back to an old blog of mine....  March 2017.  And found these books, which I enjoyed reading.   Might be a good idea to re-read them, because I am now, still in a 'Reading Drought.'  -sigh-

Thought I would post them, as possible reading ideas, for you.   Not that our reading preferences would necessarily be the same.   Just possible book ideas.

I don't remember much about them, but am sure to do so, when I begin.    How super, if I could get back into the Joy of Reading, which I seemed to enjoy, back in early 2017!

And I also found, that mid March, 2017, we had a Blizzard!!!!!!!!!!!   Eeeeek!  LOL   Sooooo, best not get too set on seeing blossoms and bluebirds, just yet.  -Grin-

🌸

And today....  Snow....   "Poor man's fertilizer"....

πŸ˜•Somehow doubt...Nearly time...🌴

Went to the library.  And ("Will wonders never cease?") no one said anything to me, about not wearing a mask 😷!!!  Seems it is personal choice now!  But, I was the only one, not wearing a mask. 😷

Which goes to show, the Government has so cowed 'the people,' that they wear one 😷, even when they don't have to any more.

Yes!  If your health, or lack of, makes you want to wear one 😷, that's your choice.

But somehow, I doubt, that all those people, had such compromised health, that they 😷..........

And I doubt, that all those children, had such compromised health, that they 😷........

Winter continues....   Cold continues....   Now and then, semi-crappy weather continues.....    It may not be long, before I get the urge to post pictures of "Little Grass Shacks"🌴, on lovely beaches🌴, and of "Islands in the Sun.🌴"   And house signs, saying;  "This house runs on Island🌴 time."  Etc.  Etc.  Etc.

How about you????????🌴

❓Am I the only one.... ❓

What a perfect 'Grumpy Bird' picture!!!!   LOL

😠

I made a comment on a blog.   And it made a perfect idea for a post.  It has to do with a "wondering" I have had, for some time.   That of.....    Is being a voracious reader, as great as it's 'cracked up to be?'

Sometimes, I am *rebellious* enough, to question...  The Universal Rule, that we all should be reading, reading, reading.  !!!!  There!  I said the *Un-sayable*!  -grin-

Who says we always have to be finishing one book and beginning another?

Sometimes I really enjoy reading.  Right now, I do not.  I am no less a *so-called* intelligent, well-rounded person, for not reading books.  And I am tired of the almost universal 'message,' that I/we are.

Am I the only one, who has ever questioned this almost *Universal Rule*?

Walls and walls of books, seems to make for a brilliant person.     Having boxes and boxes and boxes of books, to lug with you, every time you move, seems to make for a wonderful and intelligent person.

Does only the reading of books, make a person informed?

I am not 'knocking' reading!   I love it, when I have a wonderful book.   And hate to see it finish, for fear of not finding another, soon.

I am just asking, if I am the only one, who has ever questioned the *Rule,*  that people must be reading, reading, reading books, to be considered intelligent, wise, and to be listened to?

Your view...

Please and Thank You.

πŸ”₯ "Pushing the envelope", maybe... πŸ”₯

We watched "My Christmas Family Tree," a Hallmark Christmas movie, Sun. night.   It was cute.  The home decorations were 'over the top.'    And I enjoy the Holiday decor, as much as the story.   πŸ˜ŠπŸŽ„πŸ˜Š

I needed a cute movie that night, as Tom and the Buccaneers had lost their game, in the afternoon.   😞  They have so many key players, on Injured List.    It is a very bad situation.

I know, I know.   I am getting ahead of myself here....   With Winter pics...   No I don't want the snow!   But yes, I am getting into the mood, for Winter..Holiday..Christmas pics.
They "speak" to Winter hibernation, and feeling cozy, and warm under a puff, with candles about, and a nice book to read.   They "speak" to following Nature's prompt, to quiet down, draw in, rest, spend time in contemplation...    All of which sound lovely....   😊

😊

πŸ“š Finally, a new card πŸ“š

Got a new library card today.   My last one ran out, during one of the winters, of "The *Great* China Covid Pandemic".  πŸ“™   I prefer the little card, which attaches to my car keys.  Now, they charge a dollar, for these.   -sigh-  πŸ“™   All I had, was plastic, so she simply marked it down, to be paid later.  😊   I'll be back!!!!

With The China Covid Pandemic, libraries were closed.  Then came a long process of getting them, more normal again.   I had gotten a 'Kindle Unlimited' subscription and had plenty of books to read, on my tablet.   Even though our library has been back~to~normal for some time, I didn't renew my card, until now...

The topic of reading, often brings up the topic of, how one reads.

Just printed books...?

Just E-books...?

Both...?

I use both.  But my husband's eyesight is so bad, that he has to use E-books on his tablet.

And you?  What is your preference?????

A very Liberal tv news site.

Replying to

Is this, what you voted for him, to do???????

"Green-ly" handicap our own oil production, only to urge foreign oil, to produce more????
