๐Ÿ˜ŠHibernating Mode๐Ÿ˜Š

guess i should give up on having all of my post, centered.  i click on centered and they come out, to the left, like a regular book print.

there are bloggers who claim that this is the easiest to read anyway.

this week between christmas and new years, is *supposed* to be quiet, with no *to do list*.  but it didn't work out this way, this year.  -sigh-  but i certainly plan on beginning january/february, *deep winter*, with as much hibernation mode as possible.

nature is sleeping, at this time of year.  many animals are hibernating.  it is cold, with long nights and a general feeling of "going within" as much as possible.  ๐Ÿก   of being snug in our homes.  and having soups and stews simmering on the stove.  hot chocolate if one can have it.   good books to read, snuggled in one's favorite comfy chair, with a warm 'throw' over your legs.   etc.  etc.  etc.

i know, people still have to go out to work, and we all have work to do, around the home.  but if we can keep the hibernate attitude in our heads and hearts, even when out, or busy.....    and if we decline any invites which we really don't want to participate in, we can more easily slip back into a quiet mood, when work and home duties are done.

i know some do this every year.  but if you haven't really tried this before, perhaps you would consider it?  it's a way to more enjoy this cold, dark season of the year.  if we look on it, as a time to bring ourselves quiet, time for ourselves, coziness and self nurturing....  wouldn't that go a long way, to banish the winter blahhhhhhhhhs?  ๐Ÿ˜Š

if you have any resources on this topic of winter hibernation, would you please share them?  i can always use more!

some of my paragraphs are centered and some are not, at least now, before i publish.  ???????????

Well, first,I love the town house tree! Especially the foxes in bed on the first floor. You always make winter seem so appealing. Trying to think of some hibernating tips for you...for me it is hot showers and coffee with a cookie. The Gingerbread coffee is especially good with actual gingerbread. Taking down Christmas decorations and replacing them with winter ones. I try to get Christmas things that are generic for winter, so I can keep them out for the entore season.

Absolutely, we think alike! I'm a homebody in general, but this time of year, it's extra nice to cozy up and slow down. I may be in the minority, but I love the shorter days and longer nights and a little hibernation for ME! You're spot on - cocoa, soups simmering soups, feet up, reading a favorite book, crackling fire, glowing candles...I'm wishing winter was longer. Snowed in, yes, bring it on!!

We had several days of cold weather and now it's back to the 70-80's here in Central Florida. Thank you, friend, for the happiness of this blog and wishing you a beautiful Happy New Year.

Nope! I hibernate because I have no choice but it's OK. Spring is just around the corner anyway. By the way, there are many capitalizations of words missing here - on purpose to get my attention? I think not. Something may be awry. example "but i certainly plan on beginning january/february,..."

I love the way you describe having a mindful appreciation of winter. Setting aside time for yourself to just "enjoy" sounds wonderful. We don't get right into that deep hibernation mode as we don't get snow here, but do have cold wet days through winter and so I still get to do many of the things you have listed.
Hope you have a great 2023 :)

I posted this on my blog yesterday. You know I love to hibernate this time of year and slowly start to come out of it in March. I work outside the home but yes, it is still possible. Happy New Year and Happy Hibernation my friend!

Of all the winter months, January unfolds like the deepest slumbers. It closes in like the darkest part of the night; that utter blackness where dreams are found then forgotten by morning. But despite its dark and sleepy facade, this month also brings us the gift of new beginnings.
Linked to the ancient Roman god Janus, this is the month of duality. Janus has two faces; one looks forward and the other back.
Door opening and closing.
A death and a rebirth.
A time to mull over ideas.
A time to work on being well rooted so we can bloom in the Spring.

I do love the illustrations you choose. We are definitely in our hibernation and in our world that is a good place to be :) Wishing you A Very Happy and Healthy New Year, and yay to hibernators! :)))

Your illustrations are adorable.
There is a lot to be said about 'hibernating' at this time of year. Sadly, much of modern life requires us to plough on regardless, which I am certain puts an unnecessary strain on both our physical and mental health. X
