I had my second hearing aid appointment.   This one was amazing.   2 hours she spent with me!   With us, actually, my husband and one of our sons.     

The test itself was done in a room/booth of course, but it is part of the consultation room...    She was very personable, and explained so many things, of which I was never aware before!!!!!!

I knew that hearing aids are not as easy as putting on a pair of glasses and seeing again!!!    Anyone who has had a hearing aid, knows this.   And other people, have to be taught, that this is so.

Those with normal hearing have no idea of what loss of hearing consists of.   Other than, being with that person, is a 'pain in the neck.'<---Not being nasty, it issssss.   And that is why, when one's hearing starts to go, then is the time to seek help.   Not wait years and years, like I have.

With hearing loss, we forget certain sounds.    Like everything else, "Use it or lose it" applies.     For instance, the difference between the sound of "their"  and  "hair"....  If our loss prevents us from hearing  "th" and so, we do not hear it, for a long time, our brain forgets how it sounds.

And in actuality, we do not hear with our ears, we hear with our brain.    Our ears transmit, what they are capable of hearing, to our brain.    And the brain interprets the sound.

And thus, it will take us time, to 'teach' the brain, to again recognize the sound of "th"...  And other sounds, we have not been hearing.

Soooooo,  we do not put the new hearing aids in, and go out and live our life, "like new" again.   We need 'work' with the hearing aid specialist, fine tuning our aids,  and with ourselves, relearning some sounds,  which takes some time.  And all this, is part of the process, where I went this time.

 And I am excited!!!

It will entail some work, on my part, and that is a GOOD thing!!!   I need some specific brain work!

Annnnddddddd......    It will entail getting used to the LOUD  WORLD  IN  WHICH  YOU  ALL  LIVE.

And which I have not experienced, in years!

🍓🍓 Learning "SMART" 🍓🍓

Our tv died.  I think we had it for over 15 years though, so that was good service.    Ordered one on line, and our next door son and grandson picked it up for us.  Then the fun began...!!!!

It took both of our sons, and a grandson and a grand daughter and her fiance...    To try to get it all hooked up and working.   😓

I wanted a Smart tv.   Mmmmmmm, would have been much simpler, if I  had gotten a *not-Smart* tv.   But it has worked out well.

We have had Prime Video, for our tablets.   Our Grand daughter got Britbox set up for us.    And now, we watch all those things, on our tv screen!!!    Not just on our little tablets.  Super!!!!!

But learning to work the new Smart tv....!!!    This has been a real learning curve for me!!!!  Yikes!!!!!!

With Prime and Britbox, we have soooooooooooo many things to choose from, now!!!!

With so much *streaming*, to watch, will we drop cable and regular tv?  Not yet.   There are still a few things, we want to watch on regular tv.  A few shows he watches.   And my horse racing and Bucs football.   But if we ever want to, we are all set, to use only streaming services.

As you can see, from the above photo, we have come a long way, with mobile phones!

And I have finally come into the present, with my new Lively Jitterbug 3.  📱

My "Grands" couldn't help me, because Covid is in their house again.  Our older son came over and got me going.  He set me up with Instacart.   And on my own, I managed to get a grocery order!!!!!  🎈🎉🎶🎆🙌💥😉😊👌👍👏

Then I proceeded to *conquer* texting!!!   Even sent a picture, taken on my phone, in a text.  I am just so proud of myself!!!   -gigggggles-

When it Pings, that I have a text, it's like the old fun of hearing the "You've Got Mail" *music*.    Remember how much fun, that was?????????

 But must admit, the phone has easy to read and understand Instructions.

And...   Only using it, with family.   The land line is our general all purpose phone.   The 'Lively Jitterbug' is for family texting, ordering groceries, and safety, when out in the car.   Oh and power outages.   I don't want to have My Whole Life, on my smart phone.  😊

Yesterday we got our hair cut, after 2 months.   Our new lady, went on a vacation, when our 1 month appointment would have been.    By 2 months, we really needed a trim!!!!!!!

The first time, she was "afraid" to use clippers, until she got-to-better-know my hair.    This time, she was fine with so doing.   Hooray!!!!   I now have a true near-buzz-cut!!!!!

Why?   Because I have been "obsessed" with nearly-buzz-cut hair styles.  -grin-   And I NEEDED to try it.  -grin-  And, hair grows!  If I don't want to "keep" it, I will not keep it.

We got a Lively phone for seniors.

It cost $48.14 and the young man at Best Buy set it up.  Set up will cost $35 on first bill.  Unlimited plan will cost $22.48 a month.   Which is half of what we were paying for 2 old flip phones, a month.   And we did not use them.

I had to change, because I am unable to use our former grocery-store-to-go anymore.  And to get such, from any other grocery store, one has to have an Ap.   Which we could not get, with old flip phone.

Our son got us hooked up to our WiFi and our grandson will walk me through the other stuff.   Although, the Instruction Book which came with it, is very easy to understand.
