Our Granddaughter wore the necklace, which my husband gave to me, to wear, on our wedding day, way back in 1958.

I may be prejudiced but, isn't she beautiful?

Her hair was like "out of Faerie Land"...

😊Hibernating Mode😊

guess i should give up on having all of my post, centered.  i click on centered and they come out, to the left, like a regular book print.

there are bloggers who claim that this is the easiest to read anyway.

 this week between christmas and new years, is *supposed* to be quiet, with no *to do list*.  but it didn't work out this way, this year.  -sigh-  but i certainly plan on beginning january/february, *deep winter*, with as much hibernation mode as possible.

 nature is sleeping, at this time of year.  many animals are hibernating.  it is cold, with long nights and a general feeling of "going within" as much as possible.  🏡   of being snug in our homes.  and having soups and stews simmering on the stove.  hot chocolate if one can have it.   good books to read, snuggled in one's favorite comfy chair, with a warm 'throw' over your legs.   etc.  etc.  etc.

 i know, people still have to go out to work, and we all have work to do, around the home.  but if we can keep the hibernate attitude in our heads and hearts, even when out, or busy.....    and if we decline any invites which we really don't want to participate in, we can more easily slip back into a quiet mood, when work and home duties are done.

 i know some do this every year.  but if you haven't really tried this before, perhaps you would consider it?  it's a way to more enjoy this cold, dark season of the year.  if we look on it, as a time to bring ourselves quiet, time for ourselves, coziness and self nurturing....  wouldn't that go a long way, to banish the winter blahhhhhhhhhs?  😊 

if you have any resources on this topic of winter hibernation, would you please share them?  i can always use more!

Christmas, 2 years ago, our oldest Granddaughter became engaged.   This Christmas, our oldest Grandson proposed to his Sweetheart. 

They have been going together since they were 15 so it was not a surprise.  But he went down on one knee, proposed, and put the ring on her finger....  It was official.  😊

She has been part of the family, for a long time, and we love her.  It was delightful to have it become official.

She has always wanted to become engaged at Christmas, so it was extra special.

Both young women have lovely, simple settings, which makes me so happy.  For some time, the Engagement Ring Style has been small diamonds all around the main stone and all over the ring itself and ....  Well, I just did not like this Style.   And they didn't either!!!  So Nana is very happy!

No wedding date as yet.

🎄The Eve of Winter Solstice🎄

 

Happy Eve of Winter Solstice to you!!!

It is the celebration of The Return of Light.

Winter Solstice is the shortest day and longest night of the year.  From now on, the sun will begin to shine longer and longer, day by day.   People who suffer from SAD, should love this celebration.

  For myself, I find longer evenings and nights, to be cozy.  In fact, I am happy that this time of year, also ushers in deep winter.  Because I love this time, when Nature is hibernating.  I like to adapt a form of hibernation for myself.  Keep warm.  Hunker down.  Take time for introspection.   Quiet reading and etc.

 1.)  Still can not size pictures, but at least, my header is no long *super sized.*

 

 2.) Have this print set to huge, to show it big enough, on my screen.  PLEASE tell me, how does my print show, on your screen.....  Too big?  Too small?  Just right?

 

 3.)  Could not adjust size of below-header-gadget print....  Where I gave site I get my Header pics from.  It showed HUGE, so I deleted that gadget, for now.

 

 4.) Still can't size pictures in this new Photo thing on this new laptop, so my pics are still wonky sized.

 

 5.) Yes, I need to do Searches for each of my issues.  Just haven't had time to do them yet.

 

 6.)  One good thing, I have mastered typing properly, on this new to me keyboard!!!   Well....  mostly.  -grin-   But I am no longer having to peck with 2 fingers, for this kind of typing, and that is an improvement!!!!

 

Hope all are content with what you have accomplished, on your Christmas List.  Also hope you are not a slave, to your Christmas list.  Your Peace and Joy and Contentment, are much more important, than any *ding-dang* LIST!   Please remember this.  😊 🎄 😊

Very cold last night....   Clear... so any daytime heat just wicked up into the sky...  The bird bath was frozen...

Don't you love these kinds of illustrations?  Snow on rooftops and golden light glowing in many windows?  😊

Made an "Impossible Pie" for dinner last night, and the rest will be dinner tonight.  I love meals in one dish, which make enough for 2 meals.  I really should look up a lot of recipes, for such.  If you have any suggestions for me, I would love to hear them!!!!!

Got something done and "off our plate," today!!!!  Yesssssssssssss!!!!  If we could drink, we would be having Champagne tonight, instead of non-alcoholic Eggnog.  🍷

Did you ever watch the movie "Michael"??? 

 

It's fun and I was so happy to find it, on one of our streaming channels.  The first part kind of drags, but it really picks up, after Jean Stapleton's character dies.  ~~~~  

It is *cheeky*, of course.  😉

Isn't that the sweetest illustration.....  💕  She is so lovely and happy, and he is so handsome and smitten...  💕

I actually found Lactaid Eggnog!!!!!  How about that???  I get regular non alcoholic Eggnog for him, and have a sip.  It's delicious, which I never realized for years!!!

  So now, I can enjoy a small glass of it myself, without the regular Lactose Intolerance worry.  Actually, I still take a Dairy Relief tablet, just in case, there isn't enough of it, in Lactaid products.

Was able to get a Balsam wreath with red bow, where I pick up my groceries.  So at least, the front door looks nice.  Hope next door sickness has subsided by the weekend, and one of the Grands can bring our tree down.  And I need to get the mantle decorations down.

We went for a late lunch, at the little West Side neighborhood Bar and Grill, recently.  We were surprised to have only 1 parking place left!!!  When we got in, we realized why it was packed!!!!  The Iran/USA soccer (football, outside the US) game was on!!!   They have tv sets (for sports) all along the walls, and the game was on the HUGE one.  

The Bar was full...  The Grill was full...   Watching the game, while eating and drinking...  Some were VERY enthusiastic!   Chants of "USA"  "USA"  "USA"   It was so much fun!!!

When the game was over, and won...  The place cleared out.  -grin-

It turned very cold and windy and we had snow showers earlier.  Perfect for the first day of December.

🎄Creeping toward getting rid of....🎄

Our older son got us a "Roku" Streaming Stick, and set it up on our tv.   It is wonderful!!!!!!   It has solved the various issues we had, with just cable, and the new smart tv.  

In a month, when I'm sure all is working well for the long term, I will take back our Cable box, to Cable store, and stop paying for that.   We still have Cable, for an upper tier, but receiving it, via our wi-fi modem.  (Soooo, basically, we have "cut the cord.")

I will begin writing down the only Cable channels we regularly watch.  Check them against the lowest (least expensive) Cable Tier...  Possibly switch to that.

We signed up for more streaming services.  So we now have *zillions* of things to watch, with just streaming!!!! 

 

And of course,

we can cancel any of them, at any time.

We are *creeping* toward getting rid of Cable Tv.  😏

When Candace Cameron Burr spoke of why she moved to GAC Ch....  Of course she got in major trouble.   Many other celebrities were displeased with her statement.  

At this present time, no one is allowed to state any view, which does not agree with the "Woke" View.

That is the plain truth.
