πŸŽ„The Eve of Winter SolsticeπŸŽ„

Happy Eve of Winter Solstice to you!!!

It is the celebration of The Return of Light.

Winter Solstice is the shortest day and longest night of the year.  From now on, the sun will begin to shine longer and longer, day by day.   People who suffer from SAD, should love this celebration.

For myself, I find longer evenings and nights, to be cozy.  In fact, I am happy that this time of year, also ushers in deep winter.  Because I love this time, when Nature is hibernating.  I like to adapt a form of hibernation for myself.  Keep warm.  Hunker down.  Take time for introspection.   Quiet reading and etc.

https://thesmallestlight.co.uk/blog-posts/how-to-celebrate-winter-solstice/  is a link to lovely reading on this topic.   Sorry I can't do a click-able link yet.

Btw,  that link is also the source of my post illustrations today.

I for one will like it getting lighter in the morning for walking. Don't much care if it is dark early evening. I like the cozy cold evenings.

You think just like I do...while some don't like winter, I absolutely do. I want time to rest from the work of summer, I want long evenings so I can light candles, read a good book, watch an old movie, or light a fire and be cozy. They're things I don't really "allow" myself to do when the days are long because there seems to be a never ending to-do list. Even in summer I try to keep Sunday a day of rest...we all need to unwind and let our minds take a break. Yes, we all need to hibernate!

Your header is gorgeous!!! I am slowly getting used to the deep winter, as the old song says "In The Deep Mid-Winter".

I enjoy winter too. After a long garden season, time to rest and reflect is what I need.
Happy Winter!!

I always welcome the return of the light, but don't mind the long nights. I like cozy and warm evenings, reading or stitching.

I agree with Ginny, your header is gorgeous, and the photos you choose always give me warmth and a big smile. Thank you! I don't mind the long nights. I used to live further in the northern hemisphere when it stayed dark. When I visited my sister when she was living in Norway years ago, that first night together after being separated for so long, we talked all night. I remember thinking I will go to bed when it gets dark. It never got dark! And that was a great night and a great memory. A belated Happy Soltice :)

I enjoy all of the seasons but have to agree this one is my favorite. I hibernate until sometime in February. My soul requires it.

I missed this one! I ALWAYS look forward to more daylight, which means to me that Spring is coming and not lagging behind. I hibernate naturally but keep busy. Now I want an orange to dry and make an ornament!

It is the dark mornings that I struggle with. I quite enjoy a cosy evening by the fire. X
