📚 Finally, a new card 📚

Got a new library card today.   My last one ran out, during one of the winters, of "The *Great* China Covid Pandemic".  📙   I prefer the little card, which attaches to my car keys.  Now, they charge a dollar, for these.   -sigh-  📙   All I had, was plastic, so she simply marked it down, to be paid later.  😊   I'll be back!!!!

With The China Covid Pandemic, libraries were closed.  Then came a long process of getting them, more normal again.   I had gotten a 'Kindle Unlimited' subscription and had plenty of books to read, on my tablet.   Even though our library has been back~to~normal for some time, I didn't renew my card, until now...

The topic of reading, often brings up the topic of, how one reads.

Just printed books...?

Just E-books...?

Both...?

I use both.  But my husband's eyesight is so bad, that he has to use E-books on his tablet.

And you?  What is your preference?????

I need to go in and renew my card. also. Wonder what new rules/costs I'll encounter since everything changed from covid? I prefer real books. Don't like reading books on a tech device. But I can see them being a blessing to people who can't see very well, like your hubby. Hope you have a good day, my dear!

I still prefer actual books. I love my library and missed it during 2020. Since they've reopened, I just request books on line and then only have to run in and check them out. It's such a nice service.

I try to get only e-books because I don't like the clutter. Still, the kids do school here at home, so we are surrounded by so many books. Kind of unavoidable.

This reader's bill of rights is so interesting, I have not seen it before. I love this old fashioned library drawing!

When our library reopened it was reservation only as they only let so many people in at a time. Temp checks at the door. That was back in April. I checked out 3 books back then and they keep renewing them for me automatically. I need to return them. I read both, regular books and ebooks. Ebooks when I exercise on the treadmill, regular books in the evening before bed.

What a wonderful old library.
The librarians in my little town know us by name and we don't even use our cards. They just type our names in the computer when we check out books.
I love reading real books and love my Kindle too.

I prefer regular books when I read, need to turn the pages and insert the bookmark an old school friend gave me many years ago.
Our local library issued new cards recently, did not realize mine had expired during the past year or so.
A lot of my reading is done during the Winter months, curling up with a cup of tea, a warm throw and a good book for an hour or so.

I love your header shot today!
I need to renew my card too.
I love reading real books, but the convenience of the e-books has me reading that way quite often.

I prefer a hard-copy book when I am reading a story, but read a lot online when I am researching something. Grand-daughter reads all her books on her tablet, in between watching her favourite TV shows and movies!

I haven’t been to the library since covid. I’m not afraid to go, but I have a lot of books, and I have the kindle app, so I’ve just occupied myself reading this way.

I’ll go again one day.

We've been using our library facility again as well. When I get a rare opportunity to read, I prefer an actual book. X

Our library is still open but requiring masks again! I read regular books now. I like to read before bed and reading from my kindle makes it harder for me to go to sleep! I like to get books from the library. IF it's not a good one you are under no obligation to finish reading and no money lost! I haven't paid to read a book for a long time!

I haven't been inside our library in two years. I'm sure my card is expired but last year when that happened, they didn't even send me a notice. I'm not going in there as long as masks are required. I have approximately 842 books in this house that I could read. I do love reading REAL books but sometimes I can't if the light isn't strong. Reading online is nice because you can make it as big as you want, and there's plenty of light. xoxo
