From 'Folk + Field' I get 6 weekly "Wheel Of The Year" letters, to help me keep connected with the cycle of the seasons. And I also just got a Late Summer e-mail.

"Dear .......,
How are you? Since we last wrote to you, the Summer Solstice has passed and we have transitioned into what is often referred to as the darker half of the year. Thoughts naturally move towards the next few months and how the world, and our lives, will change and progress, and this year in particular the element of the unknown makes this quite a difficult thing to consider."

“Maycomb was a tired old town, even in 1932 when I first knew it. Somehow, it was hotter then. Men's stiff collars wilted by nine in the morning. Ladies bathed before noon after their three o'clock naps. And by nightfall were like soft teacakes with frosting from sweating and sweet talcum. The day was twenty-four hours long, but it seemed longer. There's no hurry, for there's nowhere to go and nothing to buy...and no money to buy it with.”

This July period, is one of Peak Summer....This past Full Moon was a Capricorn Full Moon .... Invited us to cling to what roots us to the earth and to our lives ... Keeping hold of the things we want to stay with us, for the next few months .... Intuitively keep hold, of what feels right .... Release those things not meant for us .... Those things which will not last ....

Since daylight hours have already begun to wane, it's time to make the most of the fullness of summer..... No matter what weather comes our way.

I like to "live in" and enjoy, whatever season is happening. And some seasons are harder than others, to enjoy. The heat/humidity of Peak Summer, is hard. So I really appreciate lovely words, like these, from 'Folk + Field'...

Do you have ways, to help you enjoy some of the months, which are harder to fully enjoy???? I'd love to hear them. We can always do with new coping ideas.

Yes it is amazing!
I love the open letter.
Whenever it is very hot we want coolness and rain and when it is raining and coolness we want warmth! Who else can understand us?
Have a great weekend!
This photo is absolutely gorgeous!! It really stunned me upon first seeing it. I think I will copy it and keep it just for myself to look at every now and then. I think I'll use the word "dreamy" for it. I love your little drawing and quote from "The Wind In The Willows". That is a splendid book. Winter is rather hard for me to get through; with so much darkness and no flowers or brightness. I try and make up for it by comforts. Hot cups of coffee or tea, with a soft throw around me, trying to enjoy snuggling in the warmth of home.
Hi,
I enjoyed this post.
My son is named Atticus, so that will tell you how much I enjoyed seeing your share a Harper Lee quote. :-)
And I am a huge fan of Wind in the Willows and have a quote from the book on my blog. :-)
Thank you!!
Carla
This is one of my favorite posts that you've done lately and I read it one night on my IPAD. So I wanted to find it again and tell you I loved it so. The pictures and quotes are so beautiful. Well, here in Florida the hot summer months are when we look around for things to do inside. I hiked yesterday morning but I can't go out as often as I like. So I got my sketching book out to draw. I need to do something creative if I'm staying inside a lot. Hugs!
