Thank you, to all, who commented on, the "Why" of your blog name. That was fun! And it was one of those questions, which every blogger, has to have an answer for.

Our heat is back, with a vengeance, as the old saying goes. {So I have Autumnal illustrations here...} And I let the house get too hot, before closing up and turning on A/C. ~sigh~ I do not like A/C. In summer, I want windows/doors open. To sunlight and breezes and blue sky and green grass and flowers and bird song and....

But! Some temps defeat me. Especially since the "side" of the house, we "live on," is to the south. So then, I am just very glad, we have A/C wall units, to turn on.

And very happy that I put chicken in the crock pot, in the morning. All day, the sauce was bubbling away, without adding heat to the house. Love, love, love our crock pot.

And no, we never got whatever the "new latest thing" is..... Quick Pot maybe? Anyway, it is just a newfangled pressure cooker! My mother had a pressure cooker, when I was a kid, and I was scared to death of it. 😰 Will not get this 'new' one.

These would be beautiful to print and use in journals or junk journals. I love making them but I haven't worked on any this summer. We have to use the AC day and night here in the summer. But I get outside to hear birds and bees! Enjoy your day!
Annie French's illustrations are gorgeous. They remind me somewhat of the Austrian painter Klimt's work. No air conditioning here - we would need it for only a few days each summer, and so far, none this year. It's been cool, but mostly pleasant. Water is very cooling - I was reminded once again of how much water we in Canada have while hiking in the mountains recently.
I can't see the sense of an instant pot either, but I do enjoy my slow cooker. I used to use a pressure cooker when we lived at 9500 feet above sea level. Some things just wouldn't cook without it.
Have a good day!
The artwork is beautiful! I'm glad you have the AC to turn on when it's needed. Here in Florida we can't live without running 24/7. We might get 10 days a year that we can just open the doors and windows and still be comfortable. I haven't got the new Instapot yet either and I was always terrified of the pressure cooker when I was young too! Enjoy your chicken tonight and I hope you have a nice day :)
I really like the Annie French paintings, what a nice surprise they were! I have never seen a tecnique like this. Really hot here, too. I don't have an instant pot, either! Or a pressure cooker. Or an air fryer! Just a toaster oven and microwave for me.
These paintings seem so vivid, I'm resisting the urge to reach out and feel the texture!
Like Martha, come May our A/C goes to work 24/7. After wanting an InstantPot for months and months, we caved and bought one. Took me a LONG time to dare try it, and I'm not overly impressed. Since I don't dare turn on the oven in the summer months, I wish we'd bought one of those air fryer ovens instead.
I hate the AC too and it’s never on for very long. We keep the windows and doors open most of the time instead. There is often a breeze in Prince Edward Island and it helps even in the humidity.
I have an Instant Pot and love it. We're at 7200 feet and it's great for my quinoa, oatmeal, lentils, etc. I never use the oven, just the Instant Pot and our microwave.
Enjoyed the art work you featured. We live in Phoenix. Our AC is pretty much on continually in summer. A necessary evil.

Those ARE pretty drawings!! I'm with you--much prefer windows thrown open to fresh summer breezes--blowing out lace curtains, and hearing the birdsong! It will still be a long while here tho....until then it's very hot and humid and we have to run the air just to get a break from it. I love summer but wish it was milder. I am actually looking forward to fall and some cooler days I guess.
I love your Annie French selections..I couldn't survive without AC this summer..It has been brutal..Can't wait for winter..
Art work is beautiful. Air con is so needed in the heat x
I enjoyed your Annie French selections. I struggle with humidity. Oh goodness, it is humid again today. On the positive side, my garden loves the humidity. ;-)
First of all, love the Annie French artwork. All so beautiful! I am looking forward to the cooler weather. I have often wondered how those first immigrants fared in the humidity, not to mention all the mosquitoes they had to deal with. I read an article about those who settled in Florida right in the very beginning. They must have been a hardy bunch! Like you, however, I much prefer having the windows wide open, no A/C, especially at night, and nothing like a cool breeze and the sound of bird song first thing in the morning and carried on throughout the day :) My weather vane, however, is when my face turns all colors of red, purple and pink and then I give in. Summers are a good time to use the crockpot especially, though I enjoy mine all year round as no doubt you do. No pressure cooker for me, though I realize they have come a long way since Mother’s day. I remember her lid not being properly tightened and it came off with such force it hit the ceiling and put a dent in it! Lovely post, thank you :)
Once summer is here, I seldom have the house open, because my hubby cannot stand the heat, the pollens make it worse on him with the chronic cough. But oh, I did always like to have windows open. And light streaming through. And a breeze....breezes are wonderful things. They feel so good on a hot day. And I do love these images.
I don't know what I'd do without my Crock Pot! Or my central air conditioning, haaahaaha! I don't like to be hot. But I love the time of year when you can throw open some windows and let the outside in. It's a magical time. xoxo
