Please, why did you......?

My paintings today, are of sources of water.  Because we seem to be in for more heat, in "my neck of the woods."  ~sigh~   So...    We look at water...    Which is always cooling....
.
~~~~~~~
But my main topic is not about water.    It is about the "why" of our blog names.   Once upon a time, every blog probably had a unique name.    It's not so anymore, since there are millions and millions of blogs.   But still, we each do try to make our blog name, something which resonates with us, or 'speaks' to us.
.
~~~~~~~
Mine ("Beside a babbling brook") simply sounded delightful, to me.   A perfect place to be, in my mind.  It brings a smile to my lips.  And makes me happy.

Your blog name...    Why did you pick it?   What does it mean to you?   Does it make you happy?   Is it something, you really, really like?   Is it something, you have as a hobby?  Is it "You"?    What?
.
Please and thank you.

Your paintings today are beautiful! This is a topic I could go on and on about. I had so many blogs back in the old days of blogging, Seaside Simplicity was one of them. Back then it was strictly a food blog that was all about how to cook simply and cheaply. At the time I had three children at home and worked full time, I blogged as I was learning myself. The Seaside part because we live down the street from the beach and the beach is my happy place. When I returned to blogging the Seaside Simplicity name resonated with me the most out of all my blogs for this time in my life. I put old posts in draft and started over with that as my one and only blog for whatever I want to write about. As you know there are still often food related posts in between all the other stuff too. Have a great day! :)

I had wondered about your blog name! My blog's name refers to how we should use the gifts that God has given us, use them for good and to uplift people.

Oh lady, thanks so much for visiting Respice Prospice....'loved your witty commentary. (Soul sista!) Anyway, I'm delighted to 'meet' you! Your question's a good one; I've often wondered the same thing. It all began with a silver locket I saw in one of those novelty catalogs: Respice on one side meaning: "Learn from the past"; Prospice on the other, "Look to the future." It's still hanging from the bookshelf right there, over my right shoulder.

Oops! Forgot to say, that first photo really speaks to me -- reminiscent of the Austrian alps I loved as a child.

This is a fun post and I will enjoy reading the comments. I love lavender....the color, the flower and the scent! And I'm a dreamer. Pretty simple and an easy pick for me! Hugs!

I like the name of your blog and how you came up with it. Also enjoyed the paintings with the water in it! Its so hot here that our pool feels like bath water so that's not refreshing :)

I started blogging back in 2005. We had another corgi at the time, Koda. My first blog was of Mini paws and menopause because Koda as a corgi has short legs and I was going through menopause at the time. That was when we lived in Montana. Then we moved to the Southern California area and I deleted the first blog and started a new one A Corgi in Southern California. I took a blogging break in 2006 to 2007 and deleted that one. Came back to blogging with Koda's Corgi Tales. All those blogs were on AOL with their journals. AOL shut their journals down about 2008 to 2009 so everyone came over to Blogger. I decided to go back to the title A Corgi in Southern California. We moved from one part of Southern California to the San Diego area in 2011 to help take care of my hubby's aging parents. A month after we moved Koda got diagnosed with lymphoma. Because he was only 6 years old we elected to treat him with chemotherapy. He went into remission for 4 years before the cancer came back with a vengeance and we had to say good bye to him. Right after he left us we moved to Prescott Arizona and said we were not going to get a dog for at least a year to mourn him. Koda was very special to us. Anyway, long story short 5 years after Koda's passing we finally were ready for another corgi and Winslow came along :) After a year in Prescott we moved down to Phoenix to be closer to son and his family. Back to blog names. When we still lived in the San Diego area in the year 2011 we were taking a car ride (Koda loved car rides and would sit for hours in my lap looking out the window, enjoying the fresh air on him; ironically Winslow hasn't warmed up to them yet but is getting better with them). Anyway, we were driving close to the beach in a hilly area and I saw a bench overlooking the ocean and I thought "A Bench with a View" and closed down "A Corgi in Southern California" and started "A Bench with a View." I was always on the lookout for benches with views after that :)

I wondered about your name...your blog name, I mean. My one blog, Pics & Pieces, is because normally I am either thinking about quilting or photography. Or I used to be. That blog was to try to spur me on to do both more quilts and more photography. My other blog, Time Stand Still, a photo blog...the Time Stand Still part is the name of a song by Rush, one that I like. But it also sort of describes, what photos do. They capture a moment in time. I still like that name...not real crazy about the names Pics & Pieces....

Island musings with Marie is my blog. I was born on one Canadian island and lived there all my life. Then we moved to another Canadian island in retirement. I had to specify my name because there were other island musings. I only know island living and enjoy it immensely.

My blog name, Travels With Birds, represents my lifelong connection to nature, most specifically with birds. When I travel it is to explore the avian richness of my destination, not to lie on the beach, not to gawk at cathedrals, not to ride the bus to predetermined destinations where you stop for exactly the time allotted or sample the local nightlife. I go to see bird species that are new to me, especially new families, and in the process try to understand their breeding biology, lifestyle, habitat and so on. Since the areas I visit are often remote, I also have the chance to experience true local culture, not the canned version present in most tourist hot spots. I have had a rewarding life!

I love the paintings, and the thing that stands out to me is how these ladies are wearing long sleeves!

My blog name Creekside Cottage is the name of our home. We have a small creek that runs behind our house and we like the tradition of naming houses. I wanted my blog to be a reflection of our home, and my work in our home!

I love your blog name! And I love this post. My blog name came easily years ago. I have had a cup of afternoon coffee since I can remember. And I used to have evening tea. Not so much anymore. Have a cozy day, my friend!

Your blog name is delightful. Mine is terragarden, because I love to garden and Terra is my name. Terra is Latin for earth, so I am a gardener from the git go.

This was fun, I enjoyed reading the other comments.
The River is the name of my blog. I grew up along two rivers, the Elk and the Flambeau. I fished and canoed both. I love how the river changes, yet stays the same. I just love rivers and hope to live along one again someday.

Lovely pictures! And I love the name of your blog, and the reason you arrived at it. My blog is named after a quote from the movie Pirates of the Caribbean: Curse of the Black Pearl. There's a point where Captain Jack Sparrow says "I'm having a thought here, Barbossa!" and so because I love the movies (especially the aforementioned Pirates One), and love Captain Jack, I became a pirate and a photographer ... thus, whatever pops into my head is what I write about. Pirate Palaver Plus Pictures! xoxo

Cheerful Monk's subtitle used to be "happiness as a spiritual practice", and the words monk and cheerful seemed to capture that. A few years ago I changed the subtitle to "life as a shared adventure" but part of me is still a monk. Another part is a bouncy puppy dog. They work well together.

My Dad invented his nickname for me “Friko”; I use it but, of course, it’s not my given name. A friko or frikadell is a meat patty in German, including all sorts of ingredients.
