I had my Autumn, and now it is Winter and cold and snow covered, and I am not yet "Hibernating." -sigh- So I am wasting time............. I love the beauty of Autumn. But also love the Hibernating time of Winter, when Nature rests. And our bodies want us to do so, too....................Embrace it, rather than fight it.
"Wintering..." by Katherine May ....... Btw, I do not resonate with the color of cover of this book... -sigh- To me, this does not convey W-i-n-t-e-r. But........ I have been toying with the idea of getting this book. I came across the name of it, and became excited! What I have been looking for!!!!!!! .............And looked at her Instagram............ But held off on buying it. Not sure it was what I wanted...............But the more *Difficult Times* unfold, it may well be what I need, after all...............Still haven't ordered it yet, though.....
Do you ever dither, about a book purchase?

If I see a book I'm interested in I usually see if our library has it first. Read it and then decide if it is something I want to add to my home library.
The last 3 sunny days have us energized after the slew of grey and dreary ones where, yes, one felt like sleeping the day away. Love the 'root children'. I can visualize them in the gaps under the up-turned root balls along our new trail through the swamp. I do know that the wild critters shelter in those root balls from the little highways of tracks coming and going from some. I agree with Joyce about the books I am interested in reading, as that is what I do as well.
Thank you for visiting my blog. I love your post here. I'm going to check out that book too. Agree about the color, a nice teal blue would have suited the subject better.
Plants in the subtropical DO rest. It's just a short nap....about 2 months.
I do dither at times about the purchase of a book, and since Covid nonsense has shut down our local library (although what one has to do with the other I'm sure I do not know), and also, if I'm honest, I'd rather own a book than borrow it, my solution is often Thriftbooks. I love used books anyway, and if one can own a title for very little money, why not? Helps keep the economy going and God knows, with what's coming, the economy is going to need all the help it can get.
As for the book you posted, looks lovely and the only reason I would not order it to read is that I could have WRITTEN that book on human hibernation. I am practically the poster child for it. In fact when I saw the illustration, of the lady propped up in bed, cozy clothes on, reading, with a table of sweets at her side? Add a dog at her side and that could very well be me. I keep telling myself I need to snap out of it but I know I will soon enough, as our winters here are so short.
But I hope you do get the book and enjoy it, as I know your winter will be longer and it looks like an excellent read! xoxo
You must let us know if you buy it, and then write a review! This Root Children book is so cool, I imagine kids would love it! And it explains so beautifully that nature doesn't really die in the winter. I like the woman resting in the snowglobe, she is eating lots of cupcakes and goodies to keep up her strength!
Yes, I dither about books because I have so many. And seems like the way things have been for me, I don't get near as much reading done as I used to. Just very difficult for me to get lost in a book.
I usually only buy books that 'speak' to me (some of them shout "buy me!" LOL), or else I find I always feel a little disappointed.
This book certainly has an intriguing title. Can you borrow it from somewhere to 'trial' it before buying?
In these Covid times alone, we need this book. Winter just adds to the misery.
I often mull things over for a while before buying something, but that's different than dithering. It's a peaceful process.
I like to say that we 'draw in' in winter. Cozy up with a blanket and a book, or a movie. That's why I like the seasons. They are different and we can do different things in them.
