💫Brand-new to me...Art...💫

"Celebrating and Satirizing New York's Aesthetes" ~Link

"Florine Stettheimer's wry 1942 'The Cathedrals of Art' sends up the city's storied museums and the elites in their orbit."

I don't know if you can access the article, with the
~Link  above.  But this post, shows the Art of Florine Stettheimer.  Someone I never heard of, until this article.    But her art is interesting.

"As a painter she discarded all the prevailing definitions of modernism and painted just as she pleased."

Which makes her paintings "purposefully naïve, sly, theatrical and allusive."

They wouldn't be for everyone.   But they caught my eye.  Have you ever heard of her, or her Art?   How do these paintings, strike you???

I think the art is unique. My favorite that you shared is the blue one, with the blue flowers.

I have never heard of her but then I don't know much about art.
The paintings are interesting though.

Hmmmmm! I have never heard of her, and I must admit that her pictures do not appeal to me. But if she was into sendups of the elites, I am all for her! xoxo

I have never heard of her, but her paintings are so intereting. She uses very sly art with a rather humerous message. In the picnic photo, one of the people is actually a mermaid. I think she also makes fun of people's pretenses. She was both talented and clever.

I've never heard of her, and her art is not my style, But I like the little messages she sends with it!

I haven't heard of her. I enjoyed looking at her pictures but I'm not sure I would want to own one of them, know what I mean?
