I think we bloggers, give too much personal information away.
Blogging in "Pretty Blog Land" feels like chatting with friends, over the back fence.
But it isn't, necessarily.
We blog on the World Wide Net. Any "bad guy(s)" could be looking at our blog, for nefarious reasons.

And for all you know, I could be a bi-lingual young man, in some foreign country. Getting all the necessary pictures he posts, from the World Wide Net. Doing it, 'as a lark' as the old saying goes.
Sounds far-fetched, doesn't it? YOU are who you portray yourself to be, in your blog. How could any of your blogging friends, NOT be who they portray themselves as being?????

Annnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnd...
"Safety tip — remember that any reader can copy your private post and put it on a public forum." ~Source
It's so! I Net-knew a woman, whose blog was copied and posted, as another person's. A shock to her, but at least, she did find out, some way.
Soooooo, don't dismiss as ridiculous, the idea that what you read on a blog, could be lifted from another source.

-sigh- By now, you are getting fed up with this post, I'm sure. None of us, like to have a shadow, thrown over our "Nice Views".
I do assure you, that for whatever it's worth, I am, who I portray myself as, on this blog!!!! -smile-
π±
Now it's your turn.
What do you think, about all of this????

Too often I allow paranoia to grip me. But I take care to tamp it down firmly before it gets a hold. I am pretty careful what I share, so it's always in the back of my mind. Was there something that sparked these thoughts you're having?
I totally agree! And this means we should not post anything that we would not like to go out to the whole world at any time. But I DO believe that YOU are YOU!
I am what I-yam. I can't believe how many bloggers tell us way too much!! And I find FACEBOOK even more revealing.
Sad but true!
I do believe you are you! And I agree that we need to be careful. I'm far too trusting sometimes.
Absolutely true
I told students and grands don’t post anything you would not want in the newspaper
Pictures of children not really safe at all…
I agree with you. We have to use our common sense when blogging, and not reveal too much personal info.
Not every person is who they say they are, and some are definitely not "nice" people. We constantly need to be aware of what we are posting on any social media, and I would like to say thank-you for this gentle reminder.
Mxx
I really don't care...
These days, the mere act of being on the internet gives too much information away. xoxo
Ohhhhhhhhhhh I agree with Jenny the Pirate and I do get what your saying...but for the sake of repeating myself, I do put things out there at times...grin
I agree with Jenny the Pirate!
I believe you are who you say you are! I too agree with Jenny! But I never put too much personal information on my blog and always post out of town posts when we come back!
Concerning your comment on my last post about posting when going out of town. LOL You are absolutely right! I do post when we are planning a road trip! what was I thinking? Anyway, I'm never too worried about it anyway!
This very thing is why I don’t show as many photos of my grands!
Yes it is possible but I just don't worry about it. There are so many many blogs that the odds are small I think.
It is nice to be back to blogging after my break. π
I do believe this...but I also believe that 'they' can find out a lot of information about us with us having a blog. I have had a couple or three bloggers that I have wondered about....a couple I felt were fishy from the beginning and another one I really never knew what to think. And I had one person on a quilt forum that fooled us all.
