Lammas was a time of gathering in and giving thanks, for the abundance of this time of year.    And certainly, this abundance is all around us.    Corn and tomatoes and all the other summer vegetables, are available.   And summer fruits like melons, are now here.  ~~~~~~    We wait all year, for fresh picked melons!!!!!!!!!!!    And corn!!!!    And feast on them, while they are plentiful.

This year, this celebration coincides with the almost Full Moon, known as the Grain Moon.  How perfect is that?  πŸŒ•

Melons and corn are my favorite thing about this season!

The photos look like Oklahoma wheat ❤️ My grandfather and uncle were wheat farmers.
And yes, we will be feasting on watermelon and corn and tomatoes today, the best foods of summer.
Hope you have a great weekend πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ

I am a fall girl deep in my soul, and so I welcome the turning of the calendar and the easing toward autumn! Our August’s are generally hot and sometimes September too, but it is definitely late summer and that makes me happy!

These are the golden days of summer and your photos definitely reflect that. Yes, the garden is producing more than we can eat, so we share it with others and preserve it in on shelves and in the freezer for winter consumption. Happy August days to you!

Dear Ginny, these are not my photos. I have a click-able link, below the first 2, showing where I got them from.

The moon one, is from The Farmer's Almanac, and I am remiss, in not leaving a link to that one,,too.

I look forward to cooler weather, also. Melon, tomatoes and squash are some of my favorite fresh veggies.

Gorgeous! My husband loves sweet corn so much. I love autumn so much -- I call September, October, November, and December "my beloved BER months" ... ! And like August because it means that in four weeks or less, we are there. xoxo
